 Pakistan achieved a major trade milestone in January 2026, as exports crossed $3 billion for the first time, helping narrow the trade deficit by 28.5% to $2.725 billion compared to December 2025. 


Exports rose 34.96% month-on-month to $3.061bn, while imports fell 4.85% to $5.786bn. On a yearly basis, exports increased 3.73%, and imports decreased 1.41%, slightly reducing the trade gap. 


Despite this positive monthly performance, cumulative trade from July–January FY26 shows a widened deficit of $22.038bn, highlighting ongoing challenges in Pakistan’s trade and balance of payments.
